Apple Duathlon

We drove up to St. Cloud today to cheer on some friends in the Apple Duathlon. It was really windy and kind of cold but still fun to watch. A former hockey teammate of Monte's, Dan Cohen, took 2nd place in the pro elite class. Newman and Dahlin teamed up with the mayor of St. Cloud and the mayor of Sartell for the race. They did the bike portion while both mayors did the 5K's. The story was featured in the St. Cloud Times. Newman and the St. Cloud Mayor ended up w/ the victory.

Then, of course, we ended the day at the HOP!

Erik's Spring Cup

Even though this was a couple weeks ago, I wanted to give a shout out to Monte for placing 6th in his class on his 1st mountain bike race of the season! Erik's Spring Cup was in Inver Grove Heights on May 11th. There are 10 or 11 races this season for the Minnesota State Championship Series (MNSCS) and he plans on participating in the majority of them.

Monte and I thought we'd start a blog. We will be going through one of the most incredible, life-changing experiences in a couple of weeks....becoming parents! So we'll have plenty of interesting stories and pictures to share.

We found out we were expecting back in October and so far, it's been a really good pregnancy. At our last ultrasound (36 weeks), the baby weighed approximately 5 lbs. 11 oz. and the ultrasound tech said the baby had a head full of hair (not taking after dad yet!)

We do not know if it's a boy or a girl, though everyone seems to think it's a boy. I had told someone we wanted to be surprised and he told me "the surprise is not the sex of the baby - the surprise IS the baby". Good advice for 1st time parents, I guess!
