A Painted House

It's done! 6 months of dust and construction, and here we are.


And as a reminder, here's where we started!

Interior

Walls painted... ceiling fans up in bedrooms... hardwood floors laid in master (by Monte w/ help of his dad)... stairs in... closer and closer to the finish line.

Most of work is being done inside the house. Dry wallers working through the weekend to get their portion done. Monte is on deck w/ his duties soon!

Spring.... Not Quite

2/18/11... looking like spring was on the way! Snow melted, grass all muddy, puddles everywhere.....

2/25/11... nope, winter has decided to stick around. More snow. We did get all the soffits up.

The red shutters will go and the window trim will actually be the same color as the soffits.

The Break Through

And today was the today.... they broke through from the 2nd level to our main level. Put in the stairs and tore down a few walls and closets. Basically all hell broke loose! Dust and plastic everywhere.

Ani and I spent the entire day out of the house (because of the demo) and had a wonderful time. We went to a neighborhood coffee shop that has a huge play area and treated ourselves to a slice of carrot cake. Then we went to one of my final doctor's appointments. Ani loves to join me at these, as the nurses and doctors love her and she gets stickers and also gets to help the doctor find the baby's heartbeat. We went to lunch, where she promptly fell asleep in the car afterwards. So I parked the car and read a book for an hour. Then we went to the indoor park for a couple hours.

And coming home... this is what we were greeted with!

Ani and I peeked through the plastic into the foyer and she got a big smile on her face and said "I Love It!" So funny.

I am standing in our former bedroom. That's our former closet to the right. And right in front of where Ani is standing was our linen closet and a coat closet. Closets and walls be gone! It doesn't even feel like the same house anymore.

Although it's messy right now, this is so exciting!!

Roof

The new shape of our house is becoming more evident. Roof trusses up today. Beautiful, sunny day here but FREEZING. Like Ani has been saying lately - I want the snow to go away and to be able to see our grass!

Week 2

We lost some existing insulation to make room for the new floor trusses, which were installed above the existing ceiling trusses. It looks worse than it is - we're keeping the house warm w/ the wood burning stove. Sub flooring should be installed by end of week. Next week - walls.

Here's our cute little house in the spring...

And here is it today as the house project gets underway.... in a big way! One step closer to a 2nd level.
